The Ceremony Setting

Most popular is the large gothic Drawing Room with glorious views to the lake. An altar table is provided. Seating for 60 in aisle form. Use of up to 80 chairs. Smaller weddings can take place in the 14th century Dining Room or, for up to 40, the Great Hall. You may prefer an open-air ceremony on the front lawn or perhaps by the lakeside whereas the extensive back lawn can easily accommodate marquees for 500 or more. Alternatively, we are blessed with numerous churches nearby (Duns, Swinton, Polwarth, Bonkyl and Gavinton to name but a few).

We offer complimentary help planning your special day and we oversee your logistics on the day as part of our facility fee. We have a large list of useful contacts to make your day as memorable and unique as you would wish. You are welcome to choose your own suppliers although we have our own usual florist and piper. We remain on hand to ensure your specially tailored wedding event runs smoothly.

In this old tower castle the public areas lead into one another so your guests come straight into an impressive high ornate gothic hall where the reception takes place after the wedding (unless you want it outside on a summer’s day!). It is then only a few steps to the unforgettable dinner venue. A piper can be made available.

The 14th century dining room with 10ft thick window recesses looks out over parkland and avenue, at once grand and intimate, quite simply spectacular.

We can seat up to 60 guests using our festive table settings sparkling with silver and candlesticks if you have chosen our in-house catering option (menus below), or you have the option of bringing in your own caterer by arrangement (we can advise and book).

The bar – we are fully licensed and can run the bar how and when you wish; on a cash, account or corkage basis. Our son is very knowledgeable about wine and his wine lists are exciting and good value.

Dedicated Dance area – Downstairs in the original Servants hall is a cheerful area for your choice of band, DJ or ceilidh: and the bar moves with you. A great way to continue and seal your special evening. For extra effect theme these rooms!
